General Assembly President H.E. Mr. Zeev Elkin, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of IsraelThe President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met today with H.E. Mr. Zeev Elkin, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel. They discussed Israel’s contributions to deliberations on development issues including their role as proponents for resolutions relating to agriculture, entrepreneurship and development.  

The Deputy Foreign Minister underscored the need for Israel to deepen relations with the United Nations through constructive approaches. He pointed to a resolution on Technology and Agriculture that Israel will put forth during the sixty-eighth session.

President Ashe recalled the high-level events and thematic debates which he will convene during the sixty-eighth session, including the thematic debate on Water, Sanitation and Sustainable Energy in the Post-2015 Development Agenda. He noted that Israel may wish to share its expertise in these events and so contribute to the elaboration of the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
