Readout of the President of the General Assembly’s meeting with Dr. Harald Braun, State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany

The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met today with Dr. Harald Braun, State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany. Discussions covered a range of topics including the Post-2015 Development Agenda and Security Council Reform.
President Ashe informed the State Secretary of the process to elaborate the Post-2015 Development Agenda and outlined his priority areas. The State Secretary expressed Germany’s overall interest in the parameters that President Ashe outlined to support the theme of the sixty-eighth session and especially highlighted Germany’s interest in the theme relating to sustainable energy; noting several successful bilateral cooperation projects in this regard.
The State Secretary expressed Germany’s interest in Security Council Reform and commended the focus that the President has placed on the intergovernmental negotiation process as well as the decision to set up an Advisory Group.
The President welcomed the State Secretary's expression of support and also pointed out that the group had a limited mandate with direct responsibility to the President.
