General Assembly President Meets Foreign Minister of BelgiumPresident Ashe meets with H. E. Mr. Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and European Affairs of Belgium

The President of the General Assembly met today with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and European Affairs of Belgium. They discussed the Syrian conflict and Belgium’s humanitarian initiatives to help improve access to healthcare for the Syrian people.

The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the importance of partnerships to contribute to sustained financing flows from the private sector and as a means of transforming the conduct of businesses working to promote sustainable development.

They also addressed the Post-2015 Development Agenda, climate change, the critical need for UN reform, and the importance of 2013 as a budget year. The Deputy Prime Minister posited that the UN should expand its collaboration with regional organizations in order to make further progress on its agenda.
