President Ashe meets with H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan

The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met today with H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan. The two exchanged views on recent developments in the United Nations reform processes as well as on peace and security issues. They also discussed the Post-2015 Development Agenda, the critical importance of means of implementation, and climate change. President Ashe encouraged Japan to take a leadership role in this regard and expressed appreciation for Japan's commitment to support his initiatives and particularly his overarching theme on "The Post-2015 Development Agenda: Setting the Stage!"
While in Japan, the President also engaged with an Inter-party Parliamentary Group for Human Security, participated as a guest lecturer at the United Nations University and engaged with eminent scholars from major universities in Japan on the question of the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
