President Ashe meets with H.E. Mr. Baudelaire Ndong Ella, President of the Human Rights Council

The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. John W. Ashe met today with H.E. Mr. Baudelaire Ndong Ella, President of the Human Rights Council.
Both Presidents discussed the importance of strengthening the interlinkages between the UN General Assembly and the Human Rights Council. President Ndong Ella emphasized his personal commitment in this regard and expressed his intent to provide a briefing to the President of the General Assembly after the conclusion of each session during the eighth cycle. He indicated that he planned to travel to New York in the latter part of April. President Ashe welcomed this commitment and commended that consistent communication would bode well for the work of the General Assembly and the Council. He expressed his readiness to receive the President of the Human Rights Council on his official visit to the UN Headquarters in New York.
Following the meeting with the President of the Human Rights Council, the President of the General Assembly participated in the High-level segment of the Twenty-fifth Regular Session of the Human Rights Council, together with the Secretary General of the United Nations and the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
