President Ashe meets with H.E. Mr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India

The President of the General Assembly, H.E. John W. Ashe, was received by the Prime Minister of India, H.E. Mr. Manmohan Singh at his residence in New Delhi. In the course of a lively conversation, the Prime Minister and President Ashe exchanged views on major issues currently engaging the attention of the international community, particularly in the areas of sustainable development and international security.
They also discussed the priorities of the Government of India in the context of the Agenda of the UNGA, including Security Council reform. The President outlined the theme - The Post-2015 Development Agenda: Setting the Stage - which he has identified for the current Session of the Assembly and the programme of activities related to it.
President Ashe expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the long-standing and ongoing support which the Government of India has provided to the work of the General Assembly, as well as to the wider UN system, and Prime Minister Singh gave assurances of India's continuing support for the work of the Organization, while underlining the importance of the ongoing elaboration and future realization of the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
