President Ashe meets with H.E. Smt. Sujatha SinghThe President of the General Assembly, H.E. John W. Ashe, met today with H.E. Smt. Sujatha Singh, Foreign Secretary of the Government of India.

Smt. Singh and President Ashe had a cordial exchange on the priorities of India before the United Nations and the priorities of the President of the General Assembly in 'Setting the Stage' for the Post-2015 Development Agenda. In this context, they addressed prospects for sustainable development goals, issues relating to peacekeeping mandates, and Security Council reform.

They further discussed India's contributions to development including through South-South Cooperation as well as its substantial participation as a troop contributing country. In this regard, the President encouraged India's participation in the forthcoming high-level events and thematic debates of the General Assembly to exchange their experience.
