President Ashe with H.E. Mr. Marcelino Medina GonzalezThe President of the General Assembly met today with the H.E. Mr. Marcelino Medina Gonzalez, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba.

The Deputy Minister and the President had a friendly exchange and discussed issues relating to the ongoing work to set the stage for the post 2015 development agenda. The Deputy Minister expressed Cuba's support for the President's agenda and his appreciation for the thematic debate on "Water Sanitation and Sustainable Energy in the post 2015 development agenda" convened by the President. The President thanked the Deputy Minister for his participation in the debate and for Cuba's overall support and active engagement in the work of the General Assembly. He welcomed Cuba's continued participation in the other debates scheduled including the High-level Event on Contributions of North-South, South-South, Triangular Cooperation and ICT for Development to the post 2015 development agenda. He recognized Cuba's pioneering endeavours to foster South-South cooperation citing examples in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
