President Ashe meets with, H.E. Mr. Edgars Rinkevics, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia

President Ashe with, H.E. Mr. Edgars RinkevicsThe President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met today with H.E. Mr. Edgars Rinkevics, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. They exchanged views on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, in particular, the PGA’s agenda for “Setting the Stage”.

The Foreign Minister shared Latvia’s priorities for its upcoming Presidency of the European Union, including on climate change, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and expressed his country’s priority areas, including gender equality, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), and human rights and the rule of law for the elaboration of a Post-2015 Development Agenda.

The Foreign Minister expressed his support to President Ashe and for his agenda. The President of the General Assembly welcomed the Foreign Minister’s solidarity and support to “Setting the Stage”. Finally, discussions covered the intergovernmental negotiations on Security Council Reform.
