President Ashe meets with H.E. Mr. James Alix Michel, President of SeychellesThe President of the General Assembly, H. E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met today with H.E. Mr. James Alix Michel, the President of Seychelles, on the sidelines of the opening day of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). Discussions honed in on the elaboration of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, the Blue Economy Summit, held on the sidelines of the ADSW, and the upcoming Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

President Michel underlined the importance of partnerships, enabling governmental policy frameworks, and a people-centric approach to ensuring the protection and sustainable use of the world’s oceans and seas. He pointed to the Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to be held in Apia, Samoa, in September 2014 as a pivotal opportunity to bring attention to and sustainable solutions for the world’s oceans.

President Ashe outlined the broader scope of efforts toward the elaboration of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, including his high-level events and thematic debates to be held during the year.
