President Ashe meets with H.E. Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Morocco

Rabat, Morocco 6 January 2014
The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. John W. Ashe, met with H.E. Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Morocco today on an official visit.
The President encouraged Morocco to play an active role in the upcoming High-level events and thematic debates he will host in preparation for the Post-2105 Development Agenda. He also praised the country’s role in the region and expressed optimism about Morocco’s commitment to South-South cooperation.
Mr. Mezouar shared some of the country’s current challenges and strategies moving forward, including Morocco’s desire to be a regional hub for various sectors. He spoke about human rights, commitment to renewable energy, human development, inter-regional trade and various sectors such as banking, agriculture, telecommunications, housing and tourism. He expressed his enthusiasm for the General Assembly’s upcoming High-level thematic debate on investment in Africa.
