Ms. Maia Shanidze
Ms. Maia Shanidze has been working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia since 1997 as a desk officer and later as the head of the division of Canada and Latin American Countries where she led bilateral relations. In 2006 Ms. Shanidze was posted at the Permanent Mission of Georgia to the United Nations to work on UN General Assembly matters, Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural) the Fourth Committee (decolonization), Peace Keeping Operations; and the Fifth Committee (Financial and Budgetary.) Ms. Shanidze also worked to promote current relations with UN-affiliated organizations UNIFEM, UNFPA; UNICEF, UNDP, and UNHCR. In 2010 Ms. Shanidze was appointed as an adviser to the State Minister of Georgia for Reintegration. She holds a Masters Degree in Political Science/International Relations from the City University of New York, a Bachelor's Degree in Western European Languages and Literature from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Ms. Shanidze is a national of Georgia.
