New York, 17 August 2012
Message of the President of the General Assembly on the occasion of Eid-Al-Fitr
On the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, I would like to convey my sincere wishes to all Muslims and Nations around the world for peace, good health and prosperity.
This celebration marking the end of fasting of the Holy month of Ramadan, also comes close to the conclusion of this 66th session of the UN General Assembly. As we celebrate Eid Al-Fitr, we also remember in our prayers the millions around the world who are suffering from deprivation, occupation and all forms of violence, persecution and suppression.
While observing this happy occasion, we should remember that we can always work together for a collective response to various global challenges. The faith we have in our constructive dialogue is key to serving humanity and realizing the benefits we share from diversity.
I would like again to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy, healthy and peaceful Eid Al-Fitr and beyond.
