President of the General Assembly expresses deep sympathies over the loss of lives and destruction in Iran’s earthquake
The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, wishes to express his deep sympathies and sadness to the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the loss of hundreds of lives and extensive destruction near the city of Tabriz as a result of the earthquake of Saturday, 11 August 2012.
President Al-Nasser extends his condolences to the families and friends of those who have been killed in this disaster and wishes a speedy recovery to those who were injured.
The President of the General Assembly reiterates the need for all Member States of the United Nations to do more in the area of “Improving Disaster Prevention and Response”, one of the key issues discussed during the 66th Session of the General Assembly.
