President Al-Nasser strongly condemns deadly terrorist attacks near UNHCR in Kandahar, Afghanistan

The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, strongly condemns Monday’s suicide car bombing and gun attack near the Kandahar offices of the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, that killed at least three Afghan UNHCR staff members and others, and also resulted in injury to some other people.

The President of the General Assembly extends his sympathies and condolences to the families and friends of the victims of this attack.  He wishes those who were injured, speedy recovery.

President Al-Nasser further states that terrorist attacks on humanitarian workers, civilians and law enforcement officials are reprehensible and those responsible must be brought to justice and made to face the full weight of the law.

The President of the General Assembly expresses the solidarity of the Member States of the United Nations with all staff of UNHCR and other humanitarian agencies working in Afghanistan, as well as the Government and people of Afghanistan, as they work under some of the most difficult circumstances to bring peace, security and development to all the people of Afghanistan.
