President of the General Assembly meets with the H.E Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt


President of the General Assembly. H.E Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser held talks in Cairo , with H.E Mohamed Kamel Amr, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt. The talks covered a wide range of issues including the latest developments in Syria, Libya and Yemen. They both discussed the two upcoming High Level Meetings at the General Assembly, on the State of the World Economy and on Mediation scheduled for May 2012.

They both exchanged views on the process of democratic transition in Egypt. Within that context, President Al Nasser commended the Egyptian leadership for the success of the recent Parliamentary elections. He re-iterated that he is confident that Egypt with its great history and political weight is capable of overcoming any challenges of the current democratic transition. The President of the General Assembly stressed that Egypt continues to play a pivotal role in the Middle East.

The meeting was also attended by H.E Essam El Erian, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee at the People’s Assembly.
