President of the General Assembly meets with President of Tunisia and other Senior Government Officials
The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, has held talks in Tunisia with H.E. Mr. Moncef Marzouki, the President of Tunisia. They discussed Tunisia’s democratic transition and the need to strengthen and re-invigorate the country's role at the United Nations.
President Al-Nasser also met with the Prime Minister of Tunisia, H.E. Mr. Hamadi Al Gibali, and the Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Rafik Abdel Salam.
The talks covered a wide range of issues, including the upcoming meetings and conferences on the agenda of the UN General Assembly.
In addition to discussions about the latest developments in the Middle East and North Africa, President Al-Nasser briefed these top Tunisian government officials on the preparations for this month's UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) and the High Level Thematic Debate he is convening on Drugs and Crime as a Threat to Development on June 26th, as well as the Conference on Counter Terrorism on June 28th, in New York.
