President of the General Assembly meets the Chair of the Intergovernmental Negotiations on Security Council Reform
The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, today held talks with H.E. Ambassador Zahir Tanin, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, in his current capacity as the Chair of the Intergovernmental Negotiations on Security Council Reform.
They exchanged views on the current status of Security Council Reform, a subject that is high on the agenda of the 66th session of the General Assembly.
President Al-Nasser, who has renewed the appointment Ambassador Tanin as Chair the Intergovernmental Negotiations on 16th September 2011, pledged his full support for the efforts being made by Ambassador Tanin to steer the negotiations during the informal plenary of the current 66th Session of the General Assembly.
The President of the General Assembly has encouraged all Member States to demonstrate a spirit of consensus, openness and good faith and participate actively in the upcoming round of negotiations when they are scheduled.
