President of the General Assembly meets with Mr. Pascal Lamy, Director-General of World Trade Organization
On the margins of the Council of the International Organization for Migration held in Geneva, President of the General Assembly H.E. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser held talks with H.E. Mr. Pascal Lamy, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
During the discussions, President Al-Nasser highlighted the issue of sustainable development and global prosperity, one of the four key issues on the agenda of the 66th session of the General Assembly.
They exchanged views on the global economic crisis and its relevance to sustainable development. They both agreed on the need for a united global partnership to tackle these global challenges.
President Al-Nasser expressed his support to WTO efforts to further the negotiations on trade liberalization, stressing that the General Assembly stands ready to assist in advancing the Doha Round or any constructive alternative to it.
Meets with Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Director-General of the United Nations Office of Geneva
While in Geneva, President Al-Nasser also met with H.E. Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Director –General of the United Nations Office of Geneva (UNOG).
They exchanged views on the different aspects of the work at UNOG and its contribution to the United Nations overall efforts in overcoming the various global challenges.
