President of the General Assembly meets with Prime Minister of Morocco
and Other Senior Government officials
The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, has held discussions with the Prime Minister of Morocco, H.E. Mr. Abdelilah Benkirane, in Rabat.
The President of the General Assembly also held bilateral talks separately with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Saad Al Din Al Othmani, the Speaker of Parliament, H.E. Mr. Karim Ghalab, and the Speaker of the Consultative Council, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al-Sheikh Bidallah.
The talks covered developments in Morocco following the political, economic and social reforms that the Government has implemented, particularly after the adoption of the new constitution.
They also discussed a wide range of issues, including the role that Morocco is playing in the United Nations Security Council.
President Al-Nasser and the senior Moroccan officials exchanged views on the situation in Syria.
The President of the General Assembly later gave a lecture at the Moroccan Academy for Diplomatic Studies in which he commended Morocco's important role in the international community. He also highlighted the four important pillars of his presidency of the Sixty-Sixth session of the General Assembly, namely: mediation and the peaceful settlement of disputes, UN reform and revitalization, improving disaster preparedness and response, and sustainable development and global prosperity.
