PGA meets with the Foreign Minister of Germany
and with the Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina
H.E. Mr. Joseph Deiss, President of the General Assembly, met today with H.E. Mr. Guido Westerwelle, Foreign Minister of Germany, who was accompanied by members of the German Federal Parliament.
President Deiss congratulated Germany on its presidency of the United Nations Security Council, and on today’s important debate on Children and Armed Conflict chaired by Minister Westerwelle.
The President of the General Assembly informed Minister Westerwelle on the outcome of the Informal Interactive Dialogue on the Role of Regional and Sub-regional Arrangements in Implementing the Responsibility to Protect, convened today at the General Assembly. Other topics discussed during their meeting were the recent developments in North Africa and the Arab Spring, as well as Security Council reform.
Earlier today, President Deiss met with H.E. Mr. Sven Alkalaj, Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Minister Alkalaj informed the President about the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They also discussed Security Council reform.
