President Deiss meets with High Representatives from France and China
The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Joseph Deiss, received this morning H.E. Mr. Xavier Bertrand, French Minister of Labour, Employment and Health, who addressed today an informal meeting of the General Assembly, in his capacity as representative of the French presidency of the G20. The meeting was held with the aim of further building bridges between the United Nations and the G20 in the spirit of reaffirming the central role of the UN in global governance.
President Deiss also met with H.E. Mr. Du Ying, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, People's Republic of China. They discussed the informal thematic debate on Green Economy that the President of the General Assembly convened on 2 June 2011 and in which the Vice Chairman was a panelist.
