President Deiss meets with the Foreign Minister of Costa Rica
The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Joseph Deiss, today met with the Foreign Minister of Costa Rica, H.E. Mr. René Castro Salazar.
The Foreign Minister informed the President of the tensions between Costa Rica and Nicaragua and the Costa Rican claim of violation of territorial integrity that it has put before the International Court of Justice. Foreign Minister Salazar also expressed serious concerns about environmental degradation in the areas concerned.
The President of the General Assembly and the Minister of Foreign Affairs agreed that every effort must be done to find a peaceful resolution to the issue through regional arrangements such as the Organization of American States.
