To assist civil society in preparing for the debate
- Who can attend the debate?
- Representatives from civil society organizations working on migration, including those organizations not accredited with the UN, are invited to pre-register for the debate. The Secretariat will contact participants whose registration has been accepted by 29 April 2011, to confirm their participation.
- How do civil society representatives pre-register for the debate?
- To pre-register, please visit the UN Civil Society Network. First-time users of this registration system will need to create a new profile; approval of this profile can take up to 48 hours.
- My organization is accredited with the UN- do I still need to register?
- Yes, all civil society representatives need to pre-register for the event. Registration is for internal planning purposes.
- Does pre-registration guarantee attendance at the meeting?
- Pre-registration is for internal planning purposes and unfortunately does not guarantee entry into the meeting. Seating is limited and will be on a first come, first served basis on the day of the event.
- How can civil society representatives without a ground pass get into the UN?
- The Secretariat will contact participants whose registration has been accepted by 29 April 2011, to confirm their participation. The Secretariat will organize ground passes where needed, which will be available for pick up the morning of the debate.
- Will the UN pay for the travel or accommodation of civil society representatives?
- The UN is not in a position to fund travel expenses or accommodation to the debate. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
- Will the UN help civil society representatives get a visa for the host country?
- Participants are responsible for visa and other necessary arrangements required for the entry in the country where the meeting takes place.
