Opening of the session

The session was opened by the Chair of the Committee.

Adoption of the agenda and programme of work

The provisional agenda has been prepared on the basis of consultations among the members of the Bureau of the Committee.

Admission of new members

The Committee considered requests for membership in the Committee.

The Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information addressed the Committee at its opening meeting to provide an update on the activities of the Department of Public Information and to report on the implementation of the recommendations contained in General Assembly resolutions 70/93 A and B.

An informal interactive meeting of the Committee was held on 26 April, allowing members of the Committee to exchange ideas with, and pose questions to, the senior management of the Department of Public Information.
