CTBT: The Treaty and Its People
The aim of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty is to prohibit nuclear explosions by everyone, everywhere, always. The Treaty dates back to 1996, but as long as it has not entered into force the threat of nuclear testing remains. The importance of the Treaty and its verification system is a compelling reason for people to raise their voices and be heard around the world.
Listening for Nuclear Noise
Bischofsreut is a tranquil corner in Germany's Bavarian Forrest. It's also home to seismic and infrasound monitoring stations that are part of the CTBTO's International Monitoring System to watch the globe for signs of a nuclear blast, anywhere, by anyone.
CTBT: Science and Technology 2011 Conference - Aiming High
The CTBT: S&T 2011 conference taking place in Vienna, Austria, on 8 - 10 June will bring together up to 500 of the world's leading scientists, especially in the field of nuclear test monitoring and verification. Ahead of the conference, CTBTO Executive Secretary Tibor Toth and conference Project Executive Lassina Zerbo spoke about some of the aims and expectations of the meeting.
"Security is too important to be left just to men"
It is time to get rid of the stereotype that banning nuclear weapons' tests, and the verification of it, is a man's world, Tibor Tóth, CTBTO Executive Secretary, said in a video message to mark the 100 year anniversary of International Women's Day. The video celebrates women working at the CTBTO and remarks by Executive Secretary Tóth on the importance of gender equality in the workplace.
