Dialogues on progress,
challenges and opportunities for achieving the internationally
agreed development goals
In preparation for this year's high-level segment, the
Council held a two-day
meeting on 16 March and 17 March 2005 . In the context
of this meeting expert round tables have been organized
by agencies, funds and programmes, on the following topics:
eradication of poverty and hunger; education and literacy;
health and mortality; global partnerships and financing
development; gender equality and the empowerment of women;
environmental sustainability; and implementation of the
internationally agreed development goals, including those
contained in the Millennium Declaration, at the country-level.
The outcomes of these round tables will serve as an important
input to the high-level round tables of the ECOSOC High
Level Segment and to the upcoming 2005 high-level review
by the General Assembly. |
