To showcase best practices by United Nations organizations in the area of gender equality and empowerment of women, the United Nations will hold an exhibit during the high-level segment of the annual substantive session of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This fair will run parallel to the Annual Ministerial Review organized by the Council and devoted this year to “Implementing the internationally agreed goals and commitments in regard to gender equality and empowerment of women”.
Objectives
The Innovation Fair will contribute to the objectives of the 2010 Annual Ministerial Review, in particular:
- Share best practices in the areas of gender equality and empowerment of women;
- Demonstrate the strong links between gender equality and the other IADGs / MDGs;
- Encourage interaction among participants in the Fair and member States which could possibly lead to the launching of initiatives, with a view to replicating these practices.
