| Description: | The present report was prepared in response to Economic and Social Council resolution 2005/31 and General Assembly resolution 60/140. It provides an overview of gender training efforts of the United Nations entities. The report emphasizes the importance of training for capacity-building for gender mainstreaming, and identifies some of the critical elements for conducting successful and efficient training, including institutional context, support structures, systematic monitoring and evaluation of training and follow-up mechanisms. The report also provides examples of training provided by the entities of the United Nations system at the national level and makes recommendations for consideration by the Council. |
