Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Haiti

In July 2004, at its substantive session, the Economic and Social Council decided to reactivate the Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Haiti (resolution 2004/52 of 23 July 2004). In 1999, the Economic and Social Council, in its resolution 1999/4, had created an Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Haiti mandated to make recommendations on how to ensure that international assistance to Haiti was adequate, coherent, well coordinated and effective. United Nations Public-Private Alliance for Rural Development

In the 2003 ECOSOC Ministerial Declaration, the Council stressed the importance of alliances among all stakeholders to achieve the aims of rural development. The mission of the UN Public-Private Alliance for Rural Development is to identify, highlight and promote replication of successful business policies and practices that are both profitable and promote social and economic advancement of poor people in rural areas.
