Working meetings
San José, Costa Rica
28 November 2012

Participants at the workshop, San José.

On 28 November 2012 DPAD held working meetings in San Jose, Costa Rica, in the framework of the capacity development project "Strengthening Macroeconomic and Social Policy Coherence through Integrated Macro-Micro Modelling". Hands-on sessions were organized with the team of government experts, associated with different Ministries (Planning, Education and Finance) and the Central Bank of Costa Rica, on conducting simulation analyses that will inform policy makers. Feedback was provided on how to fine-tune a proposal that the expert team is elaborating on policy issues addressed through simulation analysis.

It was agreed that, on 17 December 2012, DPAD will make a presentation for the Minister of Planning, Mr. Roberto Gallardo, and other high-level representatives of his Ministry, addressing initial findings on financing strategies to achieve the MDGs in Costa Rica. The Deputy Minister expressed that, once the capacity development activities of the said project are finalized, the government will request further support from both UNDP and DPAD to assist in the process of defining the post-2015 sustainable development agenda of the country.

Current capacity development activities in Costa Rica are realized under the project "Strengthening Macroeconomic and Social Policy Coherence through Integrated Macro-Micro Modelling" at the request of the Ministry of National Planning and Economical Politics (MIDEPLAN). The project activities in Costa Rica started on 20 June 2011 with the organization of the inception workshop, followed by training workshops in December 2011 and May 2012.
