Nicaragua
Substantial slowdown in the progress towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are expected in all developing countries, including Nicaragua, as a consequence of the global economic crisis that emerged in 2008 and, later on, rising food and oil prices. Activities in Nicaragua address technical needs in the analysis of the impact of the global economic crisis and other shocks triggered by the dynamics of the world economy. They are aimed at enabling policymakers to design policies and/or request support from the international community in order to help revert the situation to ensure the timely achievement of the development goals and their continued sustainability beyond 2015.
Activities in Nicaragua receive support from the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (MHCP). DPAD collaborates closely with the United Nations Development Program country office in Nicaragua and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) for administrative support.
