UN-DESA • MIDEPLAN – UNDP Costa Rica

Inception meeting and training workshop
San José, Costa Rica
20-24 June 2011

Costa Rica workshopThe project application in Costa Rica was initiated holding inception meetings and organizing an initial training workshop, on 20-24 June, 2011 in San José, Costa Rica. Activities were jointly organized by DPAD/UN-DESA, the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy (MIDEPLAN) and the UNDP Country Office in Costa Rica.

The meetings served to present the objectives of the project to the main stakeholders, discussing expectations and institutional arrangements for its implementation. One of the key agreements was the formation of a “technical unit” consisting of staff from the MIDEPLAN, the Central Bank of Costa Rica, and the Ministries of Health, Education and Finance.

During the workshop DPAD:

  • presented results of recently completed projects to prospective project participants as an introduction to the methodology intended to be institutionalized in the course of the project;
  • described the theoretical foundations of the macro-micro modeling framework;
  • discussed the key policy questions to be addressed throughout the project.
