Inception meeting and training workshop
La Paz, Bolivia

The project application in Bolivia was initiated during inception meetings, followed by training workshop, conducted on 27-28 April, 2011 in La Paz, Bolivia. The meetings were jointly organized by DPAD/UN-DESA, Unidad de Analisis y Politica Economica (UDAPE) and the UNDP Country Office in Bolivia.

The meetings served to discuss the main stakeholders’ expectations of the project and institutional arrangements for its implementation. It was agreed to:

• institutionalize the methodology in key institutions under the leadership of UDAPE;
• form a “technical unit” consisting of staff from the Ministry of Development and Planning (MDP), UDAPE, the Central Bank of Bolivia, the National Statistics Institute (INE), Ministry of Economy, Finance and Planning (MEFP).

During the workshop DPAD:

• presented results of the recently completed projects to the participants of the new project as an introduction to the methodology intended to be institutionalized in the course of the project;
• discussed the key policy questions to be addressed throughout the new project.
