Training workshop on MDG determinants

The project's training activities were continued in Bolivia by conducting a new training workshop, on 25-26 April, 2012, in La Paz. This activity was jointly organized by DPAD/UN-DESA, Unidad de Analisis y Politica Economica (UDAPE) and the UNDP Country Office in Bolivia.

The training served to present the findings of recently-conducted estimations on the impact of different socio-economic factors or determinants on indicators that are usually used to monitor the achievement of the MDGs. A focus was placed on indicators of achievements in education, child and maternal mortality and access to save drinking water and sanitation. These estimations will provide information that feeds up the economy-wide model (MAMS) with which different policy scenarios will be implemented to assess financing strategies to meet development goals with and without unfavourable external shocks, among others. During the workshop, practical sessions enabled trainees to replicate the said estimations using STATA and different survey datasets.
