Exhibition on Decolonization and Activities of C-24 Committee

An exhibit entitled "Commemoration of the 56th anniversary of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples" was launched at UN Headquarters on 16 December 2016. The exhibition highlighted progress in decolonization processes since the establishment of the United Nations in 1945 and the work of the Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence of Colonial Countries and Peoples (also known as the Special Committee on Decolonization or C-24).

The exhibit, which is on display through 26 December 2016, was formally launched by Peter Thomson, President of the seventy-first session of the General Assembly; Rafael Darío Ramírez Carreño, Permanent Representative of Venezuela to the UN and Chair of the Special Committee on Decolonization; and Miroslav Jenča, Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs.
