A regional ministerial meeting on the theme "Financing Strategies for Health Care" was held on 16-18 March 2009 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Hosted by the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka   and organized in cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the meeting is part of the preparatory process for the 2009 Annual Ministerial Review (AMR).

Topics addressed by expert panelists included domestic and external financing for health care, as well as challenges for health systems in countries in or following crisis. A special session was also held to highlight good practices and new initiatives on financing health care.
