Security Council renews arms embargo and sanctions in DR Congo

UN peacekeepers plant trees in Côte d’Ivoire to fight climate change
30 November – United Nations peacekeepers planted nearly 600 trees in a botanical garden in Côte d’Ivoire over the weekend, a small but symbolic step in a project to combat climate change that has already surpassed its target of 7 billion trees – one for every person in the world. FULL STORY >>

UN launches $7 billion appeal for humanitarian work next year

Ban deplores attack on UN helicopter in DR Congo

UNICEF official draws attention to plight of children in northern Yemen
26 November – Children in northern Yemen have little to celebrate on the eve of the Muslim holiday of Eid Al Adha, a senior official with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has stated, drawing attention to the plight of the youngest victims of the ongoing conflict between Government forces and rebels. Despite progress, challenges remain on child soldiers in Sudan, UN official reports
25 November – Despite progress in Sudan in the past two years in tackling the problem of children in armed conflict, many challenges remain, ranging from reintegrating child soldiers to dealing with youngsters abducted by the Ugandan rebel Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) who have been brainwashed into killing their own parents, a senior United Nations official said today.
