I have the honour to transmit herewith the text of a letter dated

the Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, relating
to the Prevlaka issue.

I should be grateful if you would have the text of the present

                                     ANNEX

Letter dated 28 January 1997 from the President of the Federal
Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, addressed to
                             the Secretary-General

The Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia has
acquainted itself with the aide-me'moire of the Government of the
Republic of Croatia of 25 November 1996 (A/51/690-S/1996/974). The
Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia is not in agreement
with its contents. However, the Government of the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia does not intend to have it considered in the Security
Council for the time being since it is, according to the Agreement on
the normalization of relations between the two countries, the subject
of negotiations and since the Government of the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia does not wish to jeopardize the prospects for these
negotiations.

                                                       (Signed) Radoje KONTIC

                                     -----
