            51/451.  Emergency assistance for the economic recovery and
                     reconstruction of Burundi 


      At its 87th plenary meeting, on 17 December 1996, the General Assembly,
on the proposal of Austria, 1/ decided to defer, until its resumed
fifty-first session, consideration of the draft resolution contained in
document A/51/L.48 entitled "Emergency assistance for the economic recovery
and reconstruction of Burundi".
