               51/401.  Organization of the fifty-first session


     At its 3rd plenary meeting, on 20 September 1996, the General Assembly,
on the recommendations of the General Committee as set forth in its first
report, 1/ adopted a number of provisions concerning the organization of
the fifty-first session.

     At its 58th plenary meeting, on 14 November 1996, the General Assembly,
in the light of its resolution 50/167 of 22 December 1995 and in connection
with the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, decided to devote one
plenary meeting on Friday, 6 December 1996, in the morning, to the
consideration of the problem of trafficking in persons, especially women and
children.
