               51/315.  Appointment of members of the International
                        Civil Service Commission 


     At its 58th plenary meeting, on 14 November 1996, the General Assembly,
on the recommendation of the Fifth Committee, 1/  appointed the following
persons members of the International Civil Service Commission for a four-year
term of office beginning on 1 January 1997:  Ms. Corazon Alma de Leon, 
Mr. Alexander V. Chepourin, Mr. Humayun Kabir, Mr. Ernest Rusita and
Mr. El Hassane Zahid.

     As a result, the International Civil Service Commission is composed as
follows:  Mr. Mohsen Bel Hadj AMOR (Tunisia),**  Chairman; Mr. Carlos S.
VEGEGA (Argentina),** Vice-Chairman; Ms. Corazon ALMA de LEON
(Philippines),*** Mr. Mario BETTATI (France),* Mr. Alexander V. CHEPOURIN

KABIR (Bangladesh),*** Ms. Lucretia MYERS (United States of America),*
