                 51/304.  Election of the Vice-Presidents of the
                          General Assembly 1/


     At its 2nd plenary meeting, on 17 September 1996, the General Assembly,
in accordance with paragraphs 2 and 3 of the annex to its resolution 33/138 of
19 December 1978, elected the representatives of the following twenty-one
Member States Vice-Presidents of the General Assembly:  Andorra, Angola,
Bahamas, Burundi, China, Cyprus, France, Ghana, Honduras, Latvia, Libyan Arab
Jamahiriya, Niger, Pakistan, Paraguay, Philippines, Russian Federation, Sudan,
Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern
Ireland and United States of America.


                                     Note

1/  In accordance with rule 38 of the rules of procedure of the General
Assembly, the General Committee consists of the President of the Assembly, the
21 Vice-Presidents and the Chairmen of the six Main Committees.
