Accreditation of non-governmental organizations in accordance
with the rules for their participation set out in Preparatory
Committee decision 2
Note by the Secretariat
1. The Preparatory Committee for the World Summit for Social Development,
at its organizational session (12-16 April 1993), adopted decision 2 on the
modalities for the participation of non-governmental organizations in the
Summit and its preparatory process. 1/
2. The purpose of the present note is to provide relevant information on
those non-governmental organizations that are not in consultative status with
the Economic and Social Council or on the Roster of the Council and have
requested accreditation to the Summit. The deadline for submission of
applications from non-governmental organizations was 15 December 1994. The
Summit secretariat decided, however, to consider applications received by
31 January 1995.
3. Each organization listed in this note has been evaluated by the Summit
secretariat in accordance with decision 2 of the Preparatory Committee and has
been found relevant to the work of the Summit. Accordingly, the secretariat
recommends to the Summit the accreditation of the 167 non-governmental
organizations listed below; 1,132 non-governmental organizations have already
been accredited by the Preparatory Committee.
