The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. José Ayala Lasso, is the United Nations official with principal responsibility for the Organization's human rights activities and, with the Centre for Human Rights, forms a unity of action. The staff of the Centre provides support for the activities of the High Commissioner and the various programmes, procedures and organs of the human rights programme.
