The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
The Terror Indeed, it must have been terrifying, just plain terror and fright, to live through a nuclear war. All those innocent lives, those talented souls that could have brought change into the world, had gone. Oh yes, some survived. Some survived to tell of the story, of the atomic bombing, to their children and their grandchildren, letting their history be known, to those of the present, and those to come in the future.
