Below is one of the contest entries.
May Peace Arrive The unidentified planes flew by, The faint outline of an object was seen as it Plummeted down to Earth at a speed very high. An explosion occurred as everyone lost consciousness, Black smoke covered the once blue sky, The city smeared with red, The bombing left the throats of many dry, And the cries of the injured survivors were heard. Many years after the bombing, Hibakushas share their testimonies, Telling stories while sobbing Thinking back to their past hardships, When their lives began darkening. Living without siblings or parents And wandering around for days starving, These Hibakushas are now strong and brave. May peace arrive, They say. May peace arrive, We say. May peace arrive, So we can all be united and live in harmony And work together to make the world a better place For the all of us.
