Below is one of the contest entries.
That Day It started with a flash and a loud boom... A cloud of smoke rose from the town, covering the sudden dreadful scene. Something was dropped; something terrible. and as radiation surrounded the region, bodies flew and fell to the end of their lives. Blood was scattered across the concrete floor, shadows were engraved into the ground, and screams were the only sound that people heard. No one was safe. .. These people were all civilians; innocent lives. That was the day all hope was destroyed, and the war had finally come to an end. But was this the price we had to pay? Sadly, I was there to witness it all. The memories haunted me for life. and now, I wonder... If I can go back to that time, when all was well, and that day never happened.
