The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
We are mortals, of the highest evolutionary or created order. We seek mortality for ourselves and our own, in peace and security and happiness's to abound. We, our own selves in this endeavour, seek also in fear or greed and want simply want to, without a just cause, do rise upon others, seeking the same, and yet leaving us alone! In this stance and in this way, we destroy the peace and begin to anilate the peace and trust. That already done, as history has shown, peace and trust removed from within our souls! The faultless and the most peaceful of all, can see the need to be armed and on guard! So who now speak of disarmaments for peace? The colonialists have no leg left to stand on! Peace is achieved, by not disarmaments, but by building trust and securing trust again, so weapons lay sharpened and ready, to purely deter and defend, an act that can stop all dog eat dog wars. People need to learn right from wrong, that is what their big brain is for, and no it is not about who has power and who is in charge, this is and has laid the problem of injustices and actions of and for war! Poor educator and philosophers have led the shows of war, in history, philosophy and jurisprudence and well! The success of our sciences, shows accurate observation and truth, the state of our governances the poverty of thought or hidden animal alpha male agenda's be they democracies, autocracies, oligarchies, and even theocracies which God defame. The problem is us as people, our inflexibilities and choices we make, and what we have is what we have really chosen for ourselves and others less able around! It's all talk, around a very big table, simply choose peace and treat people as people, you cannot go much wrong!
