The Poetry for Peace contest was held from 15 September until 14 October 2011. The winners were anounced at a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York.
Below is one of the contest entries.
The day many people were killed by a nuclear bomb, some were burnt to death, some were exposed to radiation, some lost their family and friends, but all could not expect that they would be killed by one bomb. The day the bomb was used by the United States, some were happy with the big political success, some believed that they achieved a great job, some began planning to be much stronger. let me see, if someone wins, he will make effort to be stronger for next victory. the stronger weapons and military become, the easier it is to kill anyone at once and the harder it is for everyone to notice their danger. Finally, victims produce more victims. But, that should be false. We are humans that have feeling. We can know how disastrous wars are by listening to talks of victims. Now We should stop making tragedy ourselves.
